National Impact

Migdal Ohr assists individuals from across the religious and socio-economic spectrums, with directed programming for people of all ages. In addition to providing a stable educational framework for more than 3,000 orphaned and impoverished youth annually, the institution offers a vast array of extracurricular recreational programs and vital social services to thousands of needy families and their children throughout Israel. Here are some facts and highlights:

  • 16 schools on three campuses throughout the country serve over 12,000 students at any given time
  • Migdal Ohr’s main campus contains four day care centres, five kindergartens, three primary, eight secondary schools, trade schools, modern dormitories, indoor sports facilities, and a medical centre
  • Prisoner rehabilitation programs in Israel’s prisons. Rabbi Grossman stands out as one of the key success factors in rehabilitating Israeli prisoners with the opportunity to learn Torah, Judaism and a trade in preparation for their release but most importantly gives them hope for a brighter future. The recidivism rate among the “graduates” of Migdal Ohr’s rehabilitation activities stands at about 10%, a sharp contrast to the 90% in the general prison population
  • Occupational Training Center offering young adult education courses responsive to the requirements of government and industry. Courses fall into three categories: Occupational Diploma Courses, Education extension courses, after-school enrichment programs
  • 800 staff, 80% of whom are alumni of Migdal Ohr programs, and being graduates of Migdal Ohr
  • 80% of graduates, previously at-risk youth, who pursue higher education
  • Sulamot – a unique program in partnership with the Israeli Philharmonic Orchestra and the Mayumana Dance Group
  • Electronic Engineering and Computer Science Program in partnership with the IDF
  • Ohr Yisraeli Youth Clubs, 160 Youth Clubs with over 7,000 at-risk youth participating each week
  • Summer camps and activities throughout the country
  • Zoharim Agricultural-Educational Youth Village for high school dropouts
  • Gan Yavne Academic College for Ultra-Orthodox men
  • The Migdal Ohr Bridal Fund, which provides alumni couples with the basic necessities for their weddings, including: a wedding dress for the bride, a venue, catering and entertainment for the guests and a modest sum of money for the couple to begin their new lives together
  • Distribution of 25,000 food packages to needy families for the Passover & Rosh Hashanah
