Migdal Ohr “Tower of Light” was established in 1972 by Israel Prize Winner and Presidential Medal of Distinction recipient Rabbi Yitzchak Dovid Grossman. Driven by a deep-rooted love for Israel and the Jewish people, he has devoted his life’s work to social issues and to educating children-at-risk.
Through its top-class, country-wide network of schools and educational programs, Migdal Ohr has cemented itself as an essential institution in Israel’s infrastructure. The organization is among Israel’s leading nonprofits, playing a pivotal role in ensuring the emotional and mental well-being of more than 12,000 children by providing free essential services annually to:
- Abused children
- Impoverished children
- New immigrant children
- Youth with drug addiction
- Youth in trouble with the law
- Ultra Orthodox youth that stray from their upbringing
Based in Migdal HaEmek in Israel’s north, the educational campus spans across a 45 acre area, and provides housing, schooling, medical and dental care, clothing, libraries, after school enrichment courses and vocational training to its students. From birth through marriage and beyond, each child receives the unconditional love and support they need to become a happy, successful and productive adult.
Over the years, approximately 20,000 students have completed their studies at Migdal Ohr. Following graduation, many of Migdal Ohr’s students go on to serve in the IDF or participate in National Service. Most notably, our alumni are among Israel’s top doctors, lawyers, community leaders, business professionals, army generals, and more.
“Rabbi Yitzchak Dovid Grossman, through his tremendous lifetime project, acts as an example and a symbol to many, showing the outcome of persistent and intensive labour and toil. With unlimited concern and devotion to educating and raising thousands of under-privileged Israeli children and for his dedication to others out of true love…”
